Governor Jenniffer González fails

While the independence process is a constant struggle on all fronts, this year in Puerto Rico, we have been forced to face the most incompetent local administration that has taken the reins of the colony in recent years. The new governor, Jenniffer González, belongs to the New Progressive Party, whose sole ideology is to join the United States of America as one more state. And now, that party has been left empty-handed, because U.S. congressmen have already said forcefully that they will not allow statehood for Puerto Rico.

Since she began on Jan. 2, the governor has gone from failure to failure, and already several people she has appointed to crucial positions in her cabinet have been rejected by the legislature for not being qualified. So, five months after his swearing-in, she has still not been able to complete her government.

And to avoid this, she has gone from trip to trip abroad, or recording embarrassing videos with her husband entitled De Todo Menos Política, “Anything But Politics.”

But already many sectors of the people are getting tired, including even those who voted for her. Every day, there are demonstrations against her demanding that she govern for the people and not for the private interests of her corrupt relatives.

And if this continues, it could be a repeat of summer 2019, when the people removed another NPP ruler, Ricky Roselló.

Let’s hope so.
