Sept. 24 — Ten thousand people marched on the United Nations in New York City to demand that Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu be arrested for war crimes.
Biden, Trump and Netanyahu have killed over 70,000 Palestinians in Gaza, including 20,000 children. Thousands more have been killed with U.S.-made bombs and shells in Lebanon and Iran. Zionist settlers, many of them from the U.S., have been killing Palestinians on the West Bank.
Netanyahu was allowed to come to New York to speak to the UN’s General Assembly despite having an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court. He faces charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity, including using starvation as a weapon against the people of Gaza. Israel is also charged with genocide in a case brought by South Africa at the UN’s International Court of Justice.
Nearly 80 UN delegations walked out when the Zionist war criminal got up to speak. Netanyahu praised Trump, lauded the war on Iran and defended his genocide in Gaza.
There were protests all day against the war criminal. Congressional candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier, New York City Council Member Chi Ossé and Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon were among 100 people arrested blocking First Avenue outside the UN to demand Netanyahu’s arrest.
Thousands gathered at the great reference library on Fifth Avenue at 4 p.m. Among the organizations calling this mobilization were the Palestinian Youth Movement; PAL-Awda; Muslim American Society; Code Pink; Democratic Socialists of America; Global Sumud US; Jewish Voice for Peace NYC; Palestinian Feminist Collective; Jewish Organization for Palestinian Liberation; 18MR; The People’s Forum; Party for Socialism and Liberation; and About Face: Veterans Against the War.
A large contingent of anti-Zionist Orthodox Jews belonging to Neturei Karta came with banners denouncing Netanyahu and “Israel.”
Demonstrators left to march down 42nd Street to the UN. Some played drums while others carried colorful signs and banners. Among them was a banner demanding freedom for Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, who is jailed and being tortured by Zionist occupation forces.
There were contingents from colleges, organizations and workplaces, including City Workers for Palestine. BAYAN and other revolutionary Filipino organizations marched together.
People on sidewalks were friendly and supportive. Few workers in the Big Apple like Trump or Netanyahu.
People marched to Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza across from the UN where a rally was held.
After the rally, organizers led a thousand people on another march to Times Square, to cheers and applause from the crowded streets. Free Palestine!
