German activists stand with Cuba in symbolic blockade of U.S. Embassy

On Sept. 19, German Cuba solidarity activists plan to symbolically blockade the U.S. Embassy in Berlin to culminate in a week-long, around-the-clock vigil protesting the U.S. oil siege and blockade, which violate international law and United Nations principles. Tourists and Berliners alike, drawn to the famous Brandenburg Gate adjacent to the U.S. Embassy, found daily news from Havana, roundtable talks, discussions, music, exhibitions and movies at the solidarity installation.

The weeklong event began on Sept. 12 with a 120-participant bicycle parade that began at the Cuban Embassy. The parade went to the German Foreign Ministry – approximately 4 miles – to launch the weeklong protest exposition at the U.S. Embassy. The dramatic protest was timed to the opening of the high-level U.N. General Debate, which runs Sept. 22–28.

As was seen at the United Nations in July, when Cuba petitioned for additional U.N. attention to address the new U.S. fuel siege – not covered in Cuba’s annual report for March 2025 to February 2026 – the U.S. openly threatened and bullied United Nations members, pressuring them to vote against the Cuban request. Certainly, these strong-arm tactics will again remind sovereign countries that the imperialist dictatorship in Washington and Wall Street has been monitoring their statements and will monitor their votes on Oct. 27 and 28 during the debate on Cuba’s resolution.

Since 1992, Cuba has put the unilateral, illegal U.S. economic, financial, and commercial “embargo”/blockade before the countries of the world at the U.N. General Assembly. Every annual vote has called for an end to the economic war on Cuba, which is now reaching an unprecedented level of cruelty. Only the United States and the zionist entity have voted against it year after year.
