New York, May 31 — Defenders of Cuba picketed this afternoon in front of the James Farley Post Office in Midtown Manhattan, across from Penn Station, to stop Trump from invading the island.
The emergency action was called by the NY/NJ Cuba Sí Coalition and was supported by many organizations. Some 300 people came out to protest the outrageous indictment of Raúl Castro as well as the dispatching of the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz to menace Cuba.
People carried Cuban, Dominican and Puerto Rican flags and many signs defending socialist Cuba. They chanted “¡Cuba Sí, Bloqueo No!” The Trump regime has blocked all oil shipments to Cuba.
Among the speakers were Omowale Clay, chair of the December 12th Movement and Jason Corley from the NY/NJ Cuba Sí Coalition. Other speakers included representatives from the National Network on Cuba, the Democratic Socialists of America, the New Era Young Lords, the Socialist Workers Party, the Struggle for Socialism Party, and the Workers World Party.
