March 21 — Declared just a few days ago here in Havana, today marks the observance of the International Day of Solidarity with Cuba, featuring mobilizations in streets, squares, and parks across various cities worldwide to demand that the United States halt its current escalation of aggression and threats against the largest of the Antilles.

At the forefront of this global sentiment is the “Nuestra América” (Our America) Convoy initiative, which — defying the U.S. energy blockade — has brought together more than 600 activists hailing from 33 countries and representing approximately 140 political, social, cultural, and religious organizations, trade unions, and solidarity collectives.

Several members of this platform — convened by the Progressive International and The People’s Forum, among other groups — have arrived on the island bearing collected donations totaling around 20 tons of medicines, solar panels, food, and other vital resources, aimed at mitigating the consequences and human costs inflicted upon the Cuban people by the intensification of the U.S. blockade.

David Adler, coordinator of the Progressive International, reaffirmed from this capital the necessity of leveraging this initiative to articulate an International Front of Solidarity with Cuba—one that unites the solidarity sentiments of millions of people across the planet.

He remarked that, in the face of the danger posed by Washington’s imperialist ambitions, one cannot ignore a system of collective punishment directed against an entire people — a people the U.S. seeks to subjugate through misery and deprivation — which, he asserted, constitutes a crime against all of humanity. He noted that the current priority is to shift the narrative within the “empire” itself and raise public awareness of the situation, thereby turning public opinion in that country against this crime. Consequently, the value of this aid cannot be measured solely in terms of the cargo itself; rather, its primary contribution lies in directly challenging Washington’s own policies.

As part of the events taking place across the archipelago, a Solidarity Rally is scheduled for this Saturday at the headquarters of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, alongside a concert at the Pabellón Cuba in Havana. These gatherings will bring together influencers, media professionals, legislators, activists, and prominent global figures, featuring various artistic expressions that serve as symbols of the resistance currently being waged by the Caribbean nation and its people in the face of imperial aggression.
