Less Than Half of Black Adults Now Have a Job
Protests against police brutality have turned into a showcase of police brutality, with tear gas and rubber bullets deployed against crowds. The police have huge arsenals at their disposal.
Among those killed across the U.S. since Floyd’s death:
David McAtee, 53, shot by law enforcement in Louisville, Kentucky. None of the officers had body cameras activated at the time.
Chris Beaty, 38, shot in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Calvin L. Horton Jr., 43, shot outside a pawn shop in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The owner was booked but has yet to be charged.
James Scurlock, 22, shot by a bar owner after an altercation in Omaha, Nebraska. Local authorities won’t press charges.
Italia Kelly, 22, shot when trying to get into a friend’s car while leaving a protest in Davenport, Iowa.

Eighth night of protests
More than 9,300 arrests nationwide since unrest began Thursday, AP reports. Protests have been held in at least 140 U.S. cities
64% of American adults were “sympathetic to people who are out protesting right now,” while 27% said they were not
Mayor Jim Kenney and Commissioner Danielle Outlaw had few answers about the stark disparities in law enforcement during a third night of civil unrest when police tear gassed demonstrators but allowed a band of baseball-wielding white vigilantes to gather in the Fishtown neighborhood.
